Anniversary meeting of the Eurasia Group took place in the margins of the 139th IPU Assembly

The IPU Eurasia Group held its meeting in the framework of the 139th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The group was established in 1998, at the 100th IPU Conference in Moscow on the initiative of the IPA CIS.

First Deputy Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev led the meeting.

The meeting was attended by representatives of delegations from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech.

IPU President stressed that, despite the young age of the group, it already has important achievements, in particular, the initiative to establish the International Day of Parliamentarism, which was sponsored through the IPA CIS resolution in March 2017 and further supported by the UN General Assembly resolution.

The agenda included issues related to the results of extraordinary meetings of the IPU Executive Committee and the program of events within the 139th IPU Assembly.
