CIS experts finalized drafting of the documents on cooperation in the field of public health

An additional meeting of the expert group on the alignment of draft documents concerning the cooperation of the CIS countries in the field of public health was hosted in Minsk yesterday.

According to the press office of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting considered two documents taking into account the amendments and proposals submitted by the IPA CIS Member Nations: the Plan of Actions on Implementing the CIS Strategy for People's Health for 2018-2019 and the CIS Provisions on the Basic Public Health Care Providers and Information.

The meeting decided to consider the drafting work completed and to submit the documents for the consideration of the CIS Economic Council. The materials of the meeting will be sent to the CIS countries for the approval at the national level.

The IPA CIS also participated in the drafting of the CIS Strategy for People's Health for 2018-2019. On the initiative of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on the Social Policy and Human Rights, the Plan of Actions on Implementing the CIS Strategy included drafting of the model law on Social Advertising and Promoting Healthy Lifestyle.

The Draft Plan of Actions on Implementing the CIS Strategy for People's Health for 2018-2019 consists of four chapters focusing on the main fields of cooperation, frequency and timing of implementation, expected results and indicates the bodies and organizations responsible for the execution of the efforts. The actions are aimed at preserving and improving public health, extension of healthy and socially active years of citizens thanks to the creation of a global prevention framework, promotion of healthy lifestyle, development of favorable living environment and conditions for the harmonious personal development.

According to the CIS Provisions on the Basic Public Health Care Providers and Information, the relevant status of a basic public health care provider has been proposed for the Federal Research Institute for Health Care Organization and Informatization at the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation.

The Institute will provide methodological, informational, logistical and organizational support of the activities of the intergovernmental network of public health institutions recommended by the CIS ministries of health, coordinate and analyze the performance within the Plan of Actions on Implementing the CIS Strategy for People's Health and promoting the cooperation between the CIS Member States and the World Health Organization.

The basic public health care provider will be also mandated to prepare and implement the proposals on the projects according to the priorities of cooperation in the field of public health, develop and maintain a relevant internet portal, create joint databases in the sphere of health care, host joint international symposiums and assist the CIS Member Nations in their efforts to harmonize the legislation in the field of public health.
