Experts will discuss the Draft Intergovernmental Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2019-2023 in Minsk

On 17-18 January 2018, the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk will host the additional meeting of the Expert Group on Drafting the Intergovernmental Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2019-2023.

According to the press office of the CIS Executive Committee, the document prepared by the CIS MoI Council includes measures to counter of all forms of cross-border crime including drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors, illegal migration and human trafficking, as well as cyber-crimes. Today, such measures are carried out in accordance with respective programs of the CIS Member States.

The joint program is designed taking stock from the decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of State on adapting the CIS to current realities that aims to reduce the number of documents submitted for the consideration by the supreme statutory bodies. The comprehensive measures planned under the Program are based on the analysis of crime levels, forecasting crime spread and joint practices of combating crime, as well as the results of the implementation of the previous programs.

The document is focused on the development of the CIS international cooperation framework , improvement and harmonization of legislation in relevant fields, performing comprehensive aligned or joint operational and preventive activities, consolidation of the efforts of the states to counter crime and ensure public safety.

In addition, substantial attention will be paid to information and research cooperation, vocational training and professional upgrade of specialists, promoting engagement with international organizations.
