CIS International Economic Forum kicked off in Moscow

The CIS International Economic Forum "25 Years Together. New Formats of Cooperation" opened its doors in Moscow World Trade Center. The Forum will focus on discussing "One Belt – One Road" concept, the alignment of the CIS, the EAEU, the SCO, the economic belt of the Silk Road, cooperation in finance and banking areas, innovations in the CIS, regulation of trade, industrial and legal standards and support of regional growth.

The Forum brings together members of the CIS Economic Council, leadership of the EAEU and the SCO, senior officials of economic, finance, industry and trade ministries, representatives of authorities and businesses from the CIS and beyond.

The Forum also embraced the 69th session of the CIS Economic Council.

The agenda of the session included a broad range of issues on economy-related cooperation in the CIS. In particular, its central themes were:

• Draft Protocol of the Parties to the Agreement on the Free Trade Zone of 18 October 2011 on Rules and Regulations of Government Contracts

• Agreement on Exchange of Information on Disasters at Electric Power Generation Facilities of the CIS

• CIS Convention on Agricultural and Bio Diversity

• CIS Concept on Chemical Industry Cooperation

• CIS Intellectual Property Development Concept.

The meeting also considered and amended the 2020 CIS Intergovernmental Program for Innovative Cooperation.

The delegates discussed documents in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, reserves exploration, and building Internet space for cross-border trust.

The members of the Economic Council also approved the report on the activity of the Intergovernmental Board on CIS Agriculture until 2020.

The session agenda also debated the issues of professional retraining and upgrade in chemical industry and the CIS Agricultural Award for outstanding quality of products and services, as well as some budgetary and financial issues.

The next session of the Economic Council was scheduled for 27 May.
