Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations held its first meeting of the current year in Minsk

According to the CIS Executive Committee press-service, Andrei Shvedov Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth presiding at the Council in 2017, opened the meeting.
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev noted that, given the difficult conditions of the modern world order, the Russian chairmanship is expected to further develop cooperation within the CIS and enhance its practical impact. He also stressed that timely and full implementation of the measures identified in the concept of Russia's Chairmanship would depend on the activities of the permanent representatives of the Plenipotenitary Council and its streamlined and friendly interaction with the CIS Executive Committee.
The plenipotentiary representatives discussed and approved the work plan of the Council for the coming year, which includes the discussion of various cooperation issues of the CIS member nations and activities of its organs, elaboration of the draft agendas of the CIS supreme bodies, and implementation of the adopted documents.
In addition, the meeting discussed the prospects of developing legal framework in the CIS. In 2017 the CIS supreme bodies, according to the CIS Executive Committee assessment, will consider a number of draft documents, with 11 documents to be considered by the Council of the CIS Heads of State, 30 – Council of the CIS Heads of Government, 23 – by the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers, 28 – by the CIS Economic Council. To ensure quality drafting, the CIS member nations were offered to provide a detailed rationale for the adoption of each legal act.
Kozidavlat Koimdodov, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus, informed his colleagues about the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan "2018-2028 International Decade for Action ’Water for Sustainable Development"” approved by the UN General Assembly resolution.
