Dasoguz is the cultural capital of the CIS in 2016

The city of Dasuguz in northern Turkmenistan was declared the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2016.

Together with the status the city was granted an event plan that had been developed together with the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation.

In 2016 the city will host numerous meetings, conferences, concerts and international events.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanghuly Berdymuhamedov emphasized that promotion of Turkmen culture strengthened friendship among peoples and enriched their background.
