Intergovernmental ties in the field of fundamental research discussed in Belarus

The group of experts on the alignment of the draft Agreement on the Coordination of CIS-wide Intergovernmental Ties in the Field of Fundamental Research came together for a meeting in the CIS Execom.

Earlier, considering the importance and relevance of fundamental research and the need to support it, the CIS had decided to adopt a framework document on this subject.

The draft agreement concerns the provision of a comprehensive support in:

  • physics and mathematical sciences, IT and communications;
  • new substances and materials, includin nano materials and technologies;
  • life sciences;
  • sustainable natural management and environmental protection;
  • research of climate change phenomena;
  • energy (including nukes) and mechanical engineering;
  • socio-economic and humanitarian sciences.

The document promotes joint programs and projects, information exchange, lab work, research centers and co-working facilities for fundamental research, as well as circulation of research staff, hosting joint conferences, symposiums, workshops, forums and expos.
