Draft CIS Concept of Cooperation in Countering Corruption approved at the expert level

According to the IPA CIS Executive Committee press-service, additional meeting of the expert group on the approval of the draft CIS Concept of Cooperation in Countering Corruption took place in Minsk.

The outcome materials of the expert group meeting will be forwarded to the member nations of the Commonwealth, while the draft Concept has been introduced into the CIS Council of Heads of State for consideration in due course.

The CIS Concept of Cooperation in Countering Corruption was developed in accordance with the Intergovernmental Program of Joint Efforts to Combat Crime for 2014–2018 and is focused on the development of legal and institutional framework for cooperation in this area. It defines the principles, objectives, main areas and forms of interaction.

The document refers to countering corruption through a complex, systematic activity of the Commonwealth, public and local authorities, which provides development and implementation of socio-economic, political, legal, organizational and other measures in close cooperation with civil society and the population, aimed at preventing, identifying, suppression, disclosure of corruption crimes and offenses, as well as at stimulating activity of officials, employees and citizens in the rejection of these phenomena, and early detection and elimination of circumstances that facilitate these crimes and offenses.
