IPA CIS Delegation Takes Part in 14th Plenary Session of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean

The 14th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), organized jointly with the Hellenic Parliament, opened in Athens. The event brought together more than 200 delegates from the PAM Member Nations, observers and members of other parliamentary organizations.

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented at the meeting by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Ion Lipciu. On the margins of the session, he met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Sergio Piazzi. The parties discussed the prospects for joint events, in particular, the conference on countering international terrorism scheduled for 2021.

Ion Lipciu also met with Secretary General of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Fayez Al Shawabkeh and Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass. During the meeting, Ion Lipciu informed the leaders of parliamentary organizations on the upcoming events of the IPA CIS and invited them to attend the 51st plenary session of the Assembly and the commemorative session dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The PAM plenary session will continue its work on 21 February, when the ceremony of transferring the chairmanship of the organization will take place.
