IV International Labour Forum Kicks Off in St. Petersburg

The IV International Labour Forum kicked off in “Expoforum” Convention and Exhibition Centre. The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly co-organized the Forum for the first time.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent his welcoming address to the participants, organizers and guests of the event, which was delivered by Governour of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.

Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Economic Policy Andrey Kutepov conveyed the welcoming remarks by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

The welcome address by member of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin was delivered by member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Vostretsov.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy attended the plenary session of the IV International Labour Forum. He noted that the MPs from across the Commonwealth paid great attention to the issues of social and labour development, including the increasing of labour productivity, education, retraining and professional upgrade of employees, career guidance and motivation of youth, migration policy, employment, integration of people with disabilities into the labour market, etc. He mentioned that the Assembly had adopted about 100 model laws and recommendations in the field of labour.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy also reminded that a number of important events of the second day of the Forum would take place in the Tavricheskiy Palace. The roundtables organized in the IPA CIS headquarters will discuss the features of the legal regulation of migration processes across the CIS, as well as the CIS Model Migration Code drafted by the Assembly.
