Issues of Countering Laundering of Criminal Assets, Financing Terrorism and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction will be considered in the CIS HQ

July 25-26, 2017 in the Executive Committee of the CIS in Minsk will be a meeting of the expert group on the harmonization of the draft Treaty of the CIS Member Nations on Countering Laundering of Criminal Assets, Financing Terrorism and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. The document was developed by the CIS Council of FIU Heads.

The Model Law on Combating Terrorism was developed by the Interparliamentary Assembly in 1998. The IPA CIS first held a meeting on the issue of combating international terrorism. And this issue was brought to the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth, where a decision was taken on a unified concept to combat international terrorism, noted Yegor Stroyev, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council from 1996 to 2001, who was at the root of the formation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

The provisions of a CIS Member Nations Treaty on Countering Laundering of Criminal Assets, Financing Terrorism and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction is exist in an organic relationship with the model documents in the field of social policy developed by the IPA CIS for regulating migration, labor relations, insurance medicine in accordance with the Long-Term Plan of Model Law-Making of the CIS for 2016-2020.

The IPA CIS develops its activities on the harmonization of national legal systems and the adoption of new model laws to counter terrorism, violent extremism, drug trafficking, laundering of proceeds from crime.
