Last 2018 meeting of the Council of the CIS Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives took place in Minsk

The last meeting of the Council of the CIS Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives at the Statutory and other Commonwealth Bodies chaired by Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus Mahmadsharif Hakdod was held in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk.

The participants of the meeting heard and discussed the information on the outcomes of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CIS in 2018. Particular attention was drawn to enhancing engagement of the CIS member nations in the fields of ensuring security and stability in the Commonwealth space, trade and economic cooperation, energy, transport and communications, including related to a free flow of goods, investments and services, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

One of the priorities of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan was strengthening the Commonwealth cooperation within the framework of the United Nations. On 26 November 2018, during its 73rd session, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution Cooperation between the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States, initiated and drafted by the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of other CIS member nations.

The participants also considered a joint action plan of the CIS Executive Committee, the Council of the CIS Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives and Commission and Economic Policies Commission at the CIS Economic Council, on implementation of the decisions made in 2018 by the CIS supreme bodies, as well as of the proposals by heads of delegations.

Moreover, the members of the Council discussed outcomes of their activities in the outgoing year.
