Lessons from the Russian revolutions of the early XX century discussed in the Tavricheskiy Palace

In the year of centenary of the February and October revolutions, the Free Economic Society of Russia with the participation of the Institute of Russian History at the RAS, the Institute of Sociology at the RAS, the Institute of Economy at the RAS, the National Library of Russia, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Northwest Institute of the Russian Academy of National Economy Management and Public Administration at the President of the Russian Federation hosted a visiting session of Abalkin`s readings – Russian national conference “The City of Three Revolutions: Marking the Centenary of the Russian Revolutions of the XX Century”, in the Tavricheskiy Palace, one of the centers of revolutionary events of 1917.

The plenary session featured contributions by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Russian History Yury Petrov on “The Great Russian Revolution of 1917: Lessons from History”, Doctor of Economics, Professor, President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Director of Sergei Vitte Institute of the New Industrial Development Sergei Bodrunov on “The Great Russian Revolution of 1905–1917: Lessons from Modern Russia”, Doctor of Economics, Professor, member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, President of the Senate (Council of Elders) of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Honorary President of the Free Economic Society of Russia Gavriil Popov on “Lessons from 1917”, Doctor of Economics, Professor, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Vice-President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Glazyev on “A Century of Dogmatic Economy: Losses and Achievements”, Doctor of Economics, Professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, scientific supervisor of the RAS Institute of Economics, chief editor of the IPA CIS international research and analysis journal “Dialogue: politics, law, economics” Ruslan Grinberg on “Unlearned Lessons of the XX Century Revolutions”, and PhD, Professor, Director of the RAS Sociological Institute Vladimir Kozlovsky on “Civilizational Aspects of Russian Revolutions”.

The leading scientists and experts in the field of history, philosophy and economics, government officials, representatives of national and international non-governmental organizations, educational and business communities are also actively involved in the work of the four discussion platforms on relevant issues of the history of the Russian revolutions of the XX century: “Russian Economy: a Factor or a Victim of the Revolution”, “Russian Revolutions: History and Historiography”, “The Revolution: Sociological, Philosophical and Socio-Cultural Dimensions”, and “Revolutions in Russia: Causes, Consequences and Lessons”.
