Measures to implement the Concept of the Russian Federation Presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States discussed in Moscow

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov opened the meeting.

Specific steps on the implementation of the Concept of the Russian Federation Presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States, adopted by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, were discussed at the meeting.

According to the IPA CIS Executive Committee press-service, the meeting decided that the main priorities of the Russian Presidency should be development of the CIS, increasing practical efficiency of its activities for the member nations, strengthening credibility of the CIS on the international arena. The meeting also planned the main areas of further activities of the CIS related to the development of integration processes in the post-Soviet space, as well as stepping-up interaction on a wide range of areas including the issues of regional security, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, healthcare, science and education, physical education and sports. The meeting paid particular attention to the events dedicated tothe Year of Family announced in the CIS in 2017.
