Regular meeting of Plenipotentiary Council in Minsk

The meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth took place in the CIS Execom in Minsk. Chairman of the CIS Execom Sergey Lebedev participated in the work of the Council.

Before the meeting Sergey Lebedev introduced the newly appointed Deputy Chairman of the CIS Execom Vladimir Guminsky. He congratulated him on his new capacity and thanked his predecessor Vladimir Garkun for the years of work in this role.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus Alexander Surikov presented Vladimir Garkun with an honorary certificate on behalf of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

The members of the Council then focused on deliberations on the agenda items. They discussed the outcomes of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State and the objectives of the Plenipotentiary Council presented by Kubanychbek Omuraliev presiding in the Council. The Council members also took action on facilitating the implementation of the documents adopted by the Council of Heads of Government at its meeting on 28 October 2016. Chief of Legal Department, CIS Execom, Viktor Astreyko spoke on the item Information on the Implementation of International Treaties Made Within the Commonwealth and the decisions of the CIS Council of Heads of State, CIS Council of Heads of Government, CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and CIS Economic Council adopted in 2014-2015. The Council decided to support the implementation of the international treaties and the mentioned decisions.
