Regular meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives took place in Minsk

Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, as well as his deputies Viktor Guminsky and Agybai Smagulov attended the meeting.

Before the event Sergey Lebedev awarded with CIS Execom certificates of excellence Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Moldova at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Belarus Viktor Sorochan (on the occasion on the 70th anniversary of his birth) and Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Belarus Oleg Esasyan (for the completion of his diplomatic mission).

First of all, the participants elaborated the draft agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government to be held on 2 November 2018 in Astana.

The draft agenda features issues related to the CIS cooperation in case of nuclear accidents and mutual assistance in mitigation of its consequences, as well as cooperation in reclamation of lands affected by uranium mining operations, and in production of high-tech power equipment.

Traditionally, many documents were dedictaed to the financial sphere. The meeting also considered issues of financing activities aimed at providing medical and social assistance and raising life standards of veterans – participants of local conflicts and members of their families, as well as at building and developing a united anti-aircraft warfare system, and various aspects of financial support of the activities of CIS bodies.

It is expected that the Council of the CIS Heads of Government will approve the Plan of Priority Measures in the Sphere of Humanitarian Cooperation among the CIS States for 2019–2020 and the Action Plan for Implementation of the CIS Cooperation Agreement on Managing Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment of 1 June 2018.

The meeting of the Council of the CIS Permanent Representatives also presented the draft Concept of Turkmenistan Chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2019 and the action plan for its implementation. Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Turkmenistan at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarbuli Shakuliyev delivered some information on the issue.
