The Kyrgyz Republic has taken the presidency of the CIS

As of 1 January 2016 the Kyrgyz Republic has taken the presidency of the CIS.

According to Kabar agency, the Kyrgyz Republic has already worked out the concept of its presidency, which implies a set of measures aimed at ensuring security. The partners are offered to take an active part in fighting terrorism and extremism, guarding state boarders and counteracting organized crime.

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev representing the Council of the CIS Heads of State noted that ‘obviously the CIS is the unique venue that could not be replaced by a different format’.
