The meeting of the CIS countries devoted to cooperation in space took place in Minsk

The capital of the Republic of Belarus hosted the VI meeting of the CIS countries devoted to cooperation in space.

The main focus is on discussing the topical issues of multilateral cooperation and use of outer space in the interests of the CIS member nations.

This year the meeting is attended by representative from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

One of the key issues of the meeting is establishing regulatory framework for multilateral cooperation in space industry, the integration of ground infrastructure of the CIS nations, the use of GLONASS, establishing the interstate space monitoring system for emergency situations, establishing the international interstate research organization The Joint Institute of Space Exploration.

The participants noted that ‘the meetings encourage enhanced cooperation and increase the efficacy of interstate cooperation in space exploration, which makes them very topical’.
