Mission of Women in Global Processes: Eurasian Women’s Forum Kicked off in St. Petersburg

The Fourth Eurasian Womens Forum (EWF) has started its work in St. Petersburg. The 2024 EWF is themed Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation.

The Forum is organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the IPA CIS, the event operator is the Roscongress Foundation.

Over the course of three days, the Tavricheskiy Palace and the Museum complex “The Universe of Water” will host thematic and strategic sessions, discussions and dialogues, business breakfasts and presentations, lectures and roundtables – more than 100 events that cover a wide range of topical issues of concern to the womens community.

This year, the EWF brought together more than 1,500 participants from more than 120 countries around the world.

At the Assembly Trust as the Foundation of Efforts to Achieve General Wellbeing, the unification of womens efforts to promote a positive agenda was considered. Member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Foreign Affairs, coordinator of the projects of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum “Russian Compatriots Abroad” Elena Afanasyeva took part in the discussion.

During another session, the leading role of women in the development of civic engagement and public institutions was noted. Lubov Glebova, a parliamentarian of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, took part in the discussion of issues related to the development of the humanitarian mission of women on Earth.

The cooperation of Russian and African women in the implementation of strategic objectives for the development of Russia and Africa became another topic for the EWF discussion, at which Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture Lyudmila Skakovskaya and Member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Nina Ostanina spoke.

First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin took part in the work of the platform Women in Ecology: New Horizons of Growth. Among the issues discussed was the participation of women in the formation of national and international approaches to environmental protection, and new opportunities for women working in the field of ecology.

The central event of the Forum was a plenary session on the theme Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation.

The Eurasian Womens Forum is the largest authoritative international platform for dialogue between women leaders from all continents and the development of joint solutions on topical issues.

The participants of the EWF are women parliamentarians, representatives of executive authorities, international organizations, business circles, business, academia, public organizations and charitable projects, authoritative figures of the international womens movement from all over the world.
