59 IPA CIS International Observers to Monitor Presidential Elections in Uzbekistan

On 22 October 2021, the IPA CIS international observers at the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan began short-term monitoring. During the meeting in Tashkent, the observers outlined the goals and objectives of the monitoring and got acquainted with the work program for the coming days.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, First Deputy Speaker of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadali Vatanzoda and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy opened the event.

Mahmadali Vatanzoda noted that the observers included representatives of the CIS parliaments, as well as IPA CIS Council Secretariat staff members and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations. He also stressed that the IPA CIS observers would observe the elections at all stages – from the opening of polling stations to the counting of votes.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy drew the attention of the meeting participants that the observed outcomes of all members of the Observer Team would form the basis of the general conclusion on the results of the elections.

The IPA CIS observers were presented with the results of long-term monitoring of the election campaign, as well as analytical and reference materials prepared by the IPA CIS IIMDD experts.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations Ivan Mushket presented to the observers the work program for the coming days.
