Alexei Mayorov: Elections in Kazakhstan Held in Competition and in Full Compliance With Legislation

Today, a final press conference of the CIS observer mission at the elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Nur-Sultan drawing the outcomes of the international monitoring of the electoral campaign.

Opening the meeting, Head of the Mission, Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense and Security Viktor Bondarev told about the composition and work of the CIS observers.

The Head of the Mission commended the activities of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the preparation and conduct of elections, highlighting such aspects as training the members of election commissions, working with voter lists, conducting honest campaigning, organizing the voting during pandemic.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management Alexei Mayorov informed the participants on the composition and work of his team.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the invitation to take part in the monitoring of the parliamentary elections and stressed that members of the team were provided with all the necessary conditions to conduct independent monitoring. He also noted the high level of training of precinct election commissions, primarily in terms of ensuring disease control measures.
