CIS Observers Noted High Level of Organization and Transparency of Voting in Kyrgyz Republic

Today, the final press conference of the Observer Mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States at the snap elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum on defining the form of government took place. IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Viktor Zavarzin participated in the event.

According to the IPA CIS observers, minor violations could not affect the results of the voting. Head of the CIS Observer Mission Vasiliy Volkov stressed that the electoral authorities had ensured necessary conditions for the implementation of citizens’ right to vote. He said that the CIS observers visited 627 polling stations and noted the high level of organization and transparency of the voting process.

According to the Central Commission on Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic, after processing data from 98 percent of polling stations, Sadyr Japarov wins with 79,2 percent of votes. More than 80 percent of citizens supported the presidential form of government.
