CIS MPs Paid Tribute to Memory of Heroes of Great Patriotic War in Bishkek

The IPA CIS international observers, monitoring the parliamentary elections in the Kyrgyz Republic, laid flowers to the Victory Monument in the capital of the republic.

About 360 thousand Kyrgyz people participated in the Great Patriotic War; more than 90 thousand did not return from the front. 150 thousand Kyrgyzstani warriors were awarded medals and orders.

More than 30 large plants, factories and workshops were evacuated to the Kyrgyz Republic from the Western and Central parts of the USSR. During the war, more than 70 factories were put into operation in Kyrgyzstan, more than 30 thousand citizens were sent to the military plant in the Urals, Kuzbass, Karaganda, Kuybyshev. Elderly people, women and children replaced them at home.

The Memorial Complex on the Victory Square was inaugurated in Bishkek in 1985 at the 40th anniversary of the Victory. Laying flowers to the monuments of the common Victory is a tradition, which is followed in all Commonwealth countries.

2020 is declared the Year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Today, the Observer Team meets with the representatives of the electoral headquarters of a number of political parties. On the election day, the IPA CIS international observers will work on the polling stations in Bishkek and the Chuy region, as well as on the foreign polling stations in Baku, Minsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
