IPA CIS Observers Laid Flowers to “Leningrad Siege Survivors” Memorial in Bishkek

The CIS MPs monitoring the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan laid flowers to the monument to the “Leningrad Siege Survivors” Memorial in the Dair Asanov Victory Park in Bishkek.

During the Great Patriotic War, Kyrgyzstan located deep in the rear became a base for the evacuation of residents of the territories engulfed in battles. In 1941-1945, over 300,000 people moved to the Republic, 16,000 of them were evacuated from the besieged Leningrad. About 3,500 of the evacuees were children.
