CIS Observers Visited Central Election Commission of Republic of Moldova

As part of the monitoring of the elections to the Parliament of Moldova, international observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States headed by Head of the CIS Observer Mission, IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy and IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on Law Enforcement, Combating Crime and Corruption Iskender Matraimov visited the Central Election Commission of the Republic and  met with its leadership.

CEC Chairman Dorin Cimil informed the observers about the activities of the Commission during the pre-election period. The observers were provided with information on the principles of forming election administration authorities, lists of candidates, the number of polling stations in various regions of the country and abroad, and other aspects of the current election campaign.

The CEC leadership expressed gratitude to the observers, noting that the particular importance of assessment of the work of the election administration authorities by independent observers.

Head of the CIS Observer Mission Dmitriy Kobitskiy told the CEC Chairman about the results of the long-term monitoring of the current electoral campaign and handed over the conclusion of the expert group of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development (IPA CIS IIMDD) on the compliance of the laws of the Republic of Moldova with international election legislation.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy noted that MPs and other members of the CIS Mission have extensive experience in monitoring elections and expressed hope that the parliamentary elections in Moldova would be held within the legal framework.
