IPA CIS International Observers Began Short-Term Monitoring of Parliamentary Elections in Kazakhstan

The IPA CIS international observers began their work in Nur-Sultan. The Observer Team is comprised of MPs from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the IPA CIS Council Secretariat representatives and the IPA CIS IIMDD experts.

The observers held meetings with candidates to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on behalf of the People’s Democratic Patriotic Party “Auyl” and the People’s Party of Kazakhstan.

First Deputy Chair of the “Auyl” Party Toleutay Rakymbekov briefed the observers on the party’s program and the peculiarities of their campaigning.

The representatives of the party commended the activity of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the preparation of the elections.

Chair of the campaign headquarters of the People’s Party of Kazakhstan Olzhas Syzdykov told in detail about the voter outreach and the organization of the observers’ activity on the election day.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy spoke about the basic principles of the IPA CIS international observers: non-interference in the country’s internal affairs, political neutrality and impartiality.

In total, 48 observers from the IPA CIS Member Nations were accredited to monitor the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan.
