IPA CIS Observer Mission Recognizes Russian Presidential Elections as Open and Fair

A final press conference on the results of the work of international observers at the presidential elections was held in Moscow.

The head of the CIS Observer Mission, Deputy Chair of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Ilkhom Nematov said that the observers did not record any violations that could have influenced the election results. According to the observers, the elections were fair, competitive and ensured the free expression of will of the citizens of the Russian Federation.

Coordinator of the IPA CIS monitoring group, Chair of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Mikhail Rusy said that 60 international observers from 22 states participated in the monitoring of the presidential election. They visited 250 polling stations located in the regions of the Russian Federation, as well as abroad.

The elections were held in accordance with the national legislation, with a high degree of openness and publicity, said the coordinator of the group.
