IPA CIS Observers Commence Short-term Monitoring

On 19 June 2021, the IPA CIS observers held a meeting in Yerevan, where they defined the goals and objectives of the monitoring and were introduced to the work program for the coming days.

The event was opened by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chair of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Industry, Fuel-Energy Complex, Transport and Communications Igor Komarovsky and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy. They described the composition of the Team and noted the basic principles and norms to be followed by the observers.

The meeting participants were introduced to the results of the long-term monitoring of the election campaign conducted by the IPA CIS IIMDD staff members. In particular, the IPA CIS IIMDD expert group concluded that the preparations for the voting were carried out in accordance with the national electoral legislation.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Mushket told the observers about the work program for the coming days, scheduled meetings and the routes of the observers on the voting day.
