IPA CIS Observers Discussed Election Preparations with Party of Candidate for President of Uzbekistan

On 15 June, the IPA CIS international observers held an online meeting with representatives of the election headquarters of the candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan Abdushukur Khamzaev.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Musket informed the participants of the event that, in accordance with the invitation of Head of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zainiddin Nizamkhodzhayev, the IPA CIS international observers take part in monitoring the early presidential elections to be held on 9 July 2023.

The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan (EPU) was represented at the meeting by Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Council of the EPU Bahriddin Khofizov, Chief of Staff of the Executive Committee of the Central Council Oybek Rakhimov, head of the “Women's Wing” of the EPU, member of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection Mohira Khodzhayeva took part in the meeting on behalf of the EPU.

During the meeting with the IPA CIS observers the topic of administration of the current election campaign was touched upon.

The meeting was attended by expert of the IPA CIS IIMDD Alexander Potyakin, and staff members of the IPA CIS IIMDD.

The snap elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are scheduled for 9 July 2023. In accordance with the amendments to the Constitution adopted at the referendum on 30 April 2023, the President of Uzbekistan is elected for seven years.
