IPA CIS Observers Discussed Preparation for Elections With Representatives of Political Parties of Uzbekistan

Today, within the framework of long-term monitoring of the presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the IPA CIS international observers headed by Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket visited the campaign headquarters of all five candidates participating in the elections: Alisher Kadirov, Maskuda Vorisova, Bakhrom Abdukhalimov, Narzullo Oblomuradov and incumbent President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The electoral headquarters noted the active use of electronic media, social networks, as well as printed materials in their campaigning activities.

They described the work of the CEC and other election administration bodies as open, transparent and ensuring the equal rights of competing political forces and candidates. They commended their professionalism and large-scale training programs for members of all district and precinct election commissions.

The representatives of candidates informed about the main points of their electoral programs, such as improved social policy in the interests of the entire population, increased living standards, issues of social housing, development of healthcare and education systems and government support measures for the low-income and socially unprotected groups of the population.

The candidates’ campaign headquarters mentioned the equal access of all political parties to print and electronic media and timely state funding of campaigning events.
