IPA CIS Observers Met With Leadership of CEC of Republic of Kazakhstan

On 9 January 2021, the IPA CIS observers headed by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management Alexei Mayorov met with the members of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Chairperson of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Imashev informed the observers about the Commission’s work during the electoral period and thanked them for their readiness to take part in the monitoring of the elections.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy said that representatives of eight IPA CIS Member Nations were accredited as observers. The monitoring takes place not only in the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also in other countries of the Commonwealth: the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation. In addition, for the first time, the IPA CIS observers had observed the elections in a West European country – the capital of Germany, Berlin.

Following the meeting at the CEC, IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator Alexei Mayorov, responding to the journalists’ questions, noted that the observers and the Commission representatives had a long constructive conversation. Alexei Mayorov also expressed the hope that the elections would be calm and the new parliament would be established on a competitive basis.
