IPA CIS Observers Met With Leadership of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission at Kyrgyz Elections

As part of the monitoring of the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the IPA CIS observers headed by Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Viktor Guminsky met with Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission Thomas Boserup. The meeting was also attended by IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator Mukhtar Yerman, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Head of the IPA CIS Observer Mission Headquarters Oleg Kuleba.

Viktor Guminsky opened the meeting and thanked the European colleagues for organizing the meeting, spoke about the work of the CIS observers and shared his impressions of the long-term and short-term monitoring in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In his turn, Thomas Baserup spoke about the organization of the work of observers from the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, about the main points of the Mission’s Interim Report, which would be presented in the near future.

Assessing the course of the electoral campaign in Kyrgyzstan, the parties agreed that it could be characterized by high political competition and voter activity, while voting took place in a calm and open atmosphere.
