IPA CIS Observers Monitor Early Voting in Minsk Region

The IPA CIS international observers at the republican referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus held meetings with representatives of the authorities and election administration bodies in Borisov and Molodechno and visited polling stations where early voting takes place.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket discussed the progress of the electoral campaign with Chairman of the Borisov District Executive Committee Gennady Dengalev and Chairperson of the District Referendum Commission Lilia Chacha. The conversation was attended by Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media Lilia Ananich.

The parties discussed the preparation for voting, informing citizens about the significance of the referendum and the opportunities created for the expression of will and ensuring security measures at the polling stations.

In Molodechno, the IPA CIS representatives met with Chairman of the Molodechno District Executive Committee Yury Gorlov and his Deputy Pavel Gubko, as well as with Chairperson of the Molodechno District Referendum Commission Irina Nedvetskaya.

The meetings focused on the preparation for voting in the Molodechnovsky district, measures to ensure citizens’ health and noted a high turnout in early voting.

Representatives of the Observer Team visited the polling stations in Borisov and Molodechno, talked with members of the commissions and national observers.
