IPA CIS Observer Team Monitors Early Voting at Referendum in Grodno Region

The international observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly at the constitutional referendum in Belarus visited the Korelichesky district and the city of Novogrudok in the Grodno region.

In Korelichi, the Observer Team met with Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Gennady Shatuev and representatives of the territorial commission. The parties discussed preparation and organization of voting in the district, ensuring public and epidemiological safety at the polling stations, preparing methodological materials for members of the election commission.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket presented information about the IPA CIS Observer Team at the referendum in Belarus and spoke about its goals and objectives.

The Observer Team visited a number of polling stations in Korelichi and the village of Mir, where they interviewed commission members, observers and voters.

The observers also got acquainted with the voting process at the polling stations in the city of Novogrudok. The Observer Team held a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Novogrudok Regional Executive Committee Svetlana Korolko. Member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Elvira Soroko also took part in the meeting.
