International Parliamentary Conference Held in Azerbaijan

On 7 December , Baku hosted the international parliamentary conference Parliamentarism: Traditions and Prospects.” The event brought together around 100 representatives from the parliaments of 13 countries and international organizations.

Opening the conference Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the significant role of parliaments in the political life of nations, emphasizing their active participation in state governance as the legislative authority. She noted that the first parliamentary session in Azerbaijan took place exactly 106 years ago, on 7 December.

During the event, deputies emphasized the successful development of parliamentary diplomacy and the establishment of strong ties between the Milli Majlis and the parliaments of other countries, including within the framework of international organizations. It was noted that Azerbaijan pursues a successful policy on the international stage. According to the legislators, other countries are interested in expanding comprehensive cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The conference was attended by Director of the Baku Office of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ramin Rzayev.
