Involvement of Youth in Election Observation Discussed at International Legal Forum

Relevant formats of involving young people in the electoral process were discussed by experts and participants of the International Youth Legal Forum in St. Petersburg. Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – IPA CIS IIMDD Director Ivan Mushket made an intervention at the section “Youth and Public Election Observation: Methodological and Legal Aspects”. He presented a report on the topic “Youth Participation in Elections and Referenda Observation as a Factor in Raising Legal Culture”.  

Ivan Mushket spoke about the development of this practice across the Commonwealth and told about the activities of the IPA CIS IIMDD, including a wide range of events held on the theoretical and applied aspects of international and public observation of elections and referenda.

The International Youth Legal Forum kicked off on 10 May, along with the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center. The Forum brings together students, young lawyers, teachers and mentors, representatives of public authorities, the academic community, business of the Russian Federation and foreign countries.

Tomorrow, the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters – will provide a venue for the International Roundtable “The Development of Legislation and Regulation of Public-Private Partnership in the IT Sphere in the CIS Member Nations” within the framework of the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
