Long-Term Monitoring of Elections to Jogorku Kenesh Started

Members of the IPA CIS IIMDD expert group Roman Amburtsev and Anatoly Boyashov, accredited as international observers at the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh, began the long-term monitoring in the Kyrgyz Republic.

On 8 November 2021, they took part in a meeting of the CIS observers with Chair of the Central Election Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shildabekova.

She informed the observers about the organizational measures for the preparation of the voting equipment and software, the current stage of the campaign and preparation for debates between candidates as a new form of campaigning. Nurzhan Shildabekova also spoke about the measures taken to ensure fair elections, about the monitoring of the principle of non-use of administrative resources and about the activities of the operational response coordination groups and working groups formed under the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda.

During the exchange of views, the parties discussed the ongoing reform of the electoral legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic related to the transition to a mixed system of parliamentary elections.
