On 9 November 2021, members of the expert group of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Roman Amburtsev and Anatoly Boyashov held meetings with candidates for members of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic in single-member constituencies Zhanybek Abirov and Mavlyan Askarbekov.

The candidates told the observers about the peculiarities of their election campaign, work with voters, preparation for television appearances and debates and assessed the activities of the election administration bodies and public authorities during the election campaign. Representative of the CIS Observer Mission headquarters Oleg Kuleba took part in the meetings.

On the same day, the international observers attended the pre-election meeting of the Yiman Nuru political party and met with the party’s candidate Kanybek Shakirov. In addition, the members of the expert group visited the office of the Patriotic Party of Unity of Kyrgyzstan, where they met with leader of the party Aibek Alybaev and candidates Gulshat Asylbaeva and Khadzhimurat Korkmazov. During the meetings, representatives of the parties assessed the preferential voting system, which is used for the first time in the Kyrgyz Republic, which implies that a voter selects one of the political parties running in elections in the first part of the ballot, and selects a particular candidate of this political party in the second part.
