President of Uzbekistan Emphasized Importance of Commonwealth for Cooperation Deepening

On 1 May, a meeting was held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, head of the CIS Observer Mission at the constitutional referendum in Uzbekistan Sergey Lebedev. The parties discussed the referendum monitoring and areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of the CIS platform for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in such sectors as trade, economics, industry and transport. The head of the state noted the investment growth within the Commonwealth and praised the fruitful results of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers meeting held in Samarkand in March this year.

The sides paid special attention to further continuation of active humanitarian exchanges.
