Azerbaijan presidential elections. Role of IPA CIS observers

In his letter to the Chairperson of IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, Oktay Assadov underlined that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to building engagement with the IPA CIS.

Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs and Compatriotic Communities Abroad Leonid Slutskiy, Head of the State Duma Delegation of the Permanent Mission of the Federation Council at the IPA CIS was appointed coordinator of the Observer Team.

The IPA CIS Team is part of the CIS Mission and consists of 30 members, including MPs from seven Commonwealth countries, analysts, researchers, and IIMDD staff.

The observers will monitor the elections in various aspects. On the elections day, the observers will participate in the opening of polling stations and monitor casting of votes, counting bulletins and formulating voting results.

After the elections, the observer team will issue its findings on the day following the elections.
