CIS Observation Mission began its work to monitor presidential elections in Moldova

On the invitation of the CEC of the Republic of Moldova and in accordance with the Provisions on CIS Election and Referendum Observer Missions, the CIS observers began their effort to observe the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova.

The CIS Plenipotentiary Council approved IPA CIS SG Alexey Sergeev as Head of the CIS Mission.

On 18 October the IPA CIS observers and members of the CIS mission held a meeting with Chair of the Moldovan CEC Alina Russu and met with their international colleagues, in particular, Head of the OSCE ODIHR Mission Douglas Wake. They agreed to hold a separate meeting of Head of the OSCE ODIHR Mission with Head of the CIS Mission Alexey Sergeev.
