IIMDD IPA CIS and OSCE/ODIHR experts discussed the organization of long-term election observation

OSCE/ODIHR experts Aleksander Folks (Great Britain) and Alexander von Arks (Switzerland) visited IPA CIS HQ as part of the long-term monitoring mission for the upcoming presidential elections in the Russian Federation.
The guests were interested in the activities of the IIMDD IPA CIS expert group on organizing the long-term observation of the elections. IIMDD experts Stanislav Tkachenko and Alexey Kartsov provided detailed answers to the questions of ODIHR representatives about the nature and content of materials prepared for the members of the IPA CIS observer group.
They discussed the methodologies of long-term monitoring which are used by the IIMDD IPA CIS.
ODIHR experts described their monitoring activities at the presidential elections in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. Over the past six weeks they have held many meetings with regional and territorial election commissions in charge of organizing the elections, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and headquarters of presidential candidates.
The observers noted the open nature of the activities of the election commissions in the region and also stressed that they were given all the information they wanted to have about the election preparation process.
The meeting participants agreed on the continuation of interaction of the OSCE/ODIHR observers and the IPA CIS, including on the day of voting.
