IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office Holds Conference “Role of Cultural Heritage in Civic Education and Promotion of Democratic Values”

The conference “Rrole of Cultural Heritage in Civic Education and Promotion of Democratic Values” took place in the capital of the Republic of Moldova.

Director of the IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office Evgeniy Shtirbu opened the conference and noted the importance of cultural heritage for the formation of value system. He also emphasized that traditions underpinned the functioning of the democratic society.

The meeting was attended by Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport, and Mass-Media Adrian Lebedinschi, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Sarban, Deputy Chairman of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova Victor Moraru, Director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova Victor Gilash, Head of Department on the IIMDD IPA CIS Offices Management Roman Amburtsev, researchers at the Institute of Cultural Heritage, the Institute of History and the Pedagogical State University of the Republic of Moldova, as well as representatives of public organizations and the media.

The experts from the IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office presented reports on the role of traditional culture in shaping the system of values and the perception of democratic norms and institutions by the society.

During the conference, the participants discussed the necessary measures to preserve the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the possibility to create a scientific platform for its study and made a number of specific proposals to improve work in this direction.
