IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office held a discussion club meeting

Chisinau Office of the International Institute for Monitoring Democratic Development, Parliamentarism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IIMDD IPA CIS) held a meeting “The implementation of the right to elect and be elected – one of the most important elements of civic engagement” in Comrat (Moldova).
The Head of the IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office Eugeniu Stirbu addressed the participants, noting that the problem of right to elect and be elected becomes a crucial point in transitional periods of history of any state, since different aspects of the youth political activity come to the foreground.
The discussion club round table was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia administrative region for Social Affairs Olesya Tanasoglo, Head of Education Department of Gagauzia Sophia Torlak, IIMDD IPA CIS Deputy Director Sergey Karavaev, and Head of Department on the IIMDD IPA CIS offices management Roman Amburtsev. In his speech, Sergey Karavaev described his experience of working with young voters in the Leningrad Oblast. The Head of Department on the IIMDD IPA CIS offices management Roman Amburtsev spoke on youth absenteeism in the CIS and Europe and possible ways of overcoming it.
The discussion club was also attended by representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, civic education trainers from Gagauzia. They made a number of proposals on improving education programs. These proposals will be summarized by the IIMDD IPA CIS Chisinau Office and further submitted to the Parliament and Government of the Republic of Moldova.
