Induction meeting of the IPA CIS international observers takes place in Dushanbe

The induction meeting of the IPA CIS international observers took place in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was opened by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia in the IPA CIS Aik Chilingaryan.

Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hermine Nagdalyan informed the participants about the membership of the team and about the purpose of the observer mission at the constitutional referendum in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democratic Development, Parliamentarism and Suffrage Protection of the Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IIMDD IPA CIS) Andrey Baranov also informed the participants about the procedure of work during the short-term monitoring on day of the referendum.

On the day of voting the IPA CIS observers will monitor the voting in Dushanbe, other regions of the Republic of Tajikistan and beyond: in Baku, Minsk, Bishkek and Moscow.

The Observer Team is also planning to meet with Speaker of Majlisi namoyandogon of the Majlisi oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zukhurov, Chairperson of the Central election and Referendum Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda, Head of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Tajikistan and with draftsmen of the proposed amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Leader of the IIMDD IPA CIS Expert Group Dmitriy Gladey informed the participants about the results of the long-term monitoring.
