IPA CIS Observer Team Releases Conclusion of Elections to Majlisi namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli of Republic of Tajikistan

Following the monitoring of the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan held on 1 March 2020, the IPA CIS Observer Team released the Conclusion.

According to the document, the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan were held in line with the national legislation and generally recognized democratic principles and norms of the organizing and holding free and fair elections, as well as international commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Observer Team comprised the representatives of eight IPA CIS Member Nations – the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan – as well as the representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and the IIMDD IPA CIS experts.

Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov was appointed the Team Coordinator.

On 1 March 2020, the IPA CIS international observers monitored different stages of voting – from the opening of the polling stations to the vote counting by the local election commissions. In total, the observers visited eight district election commissions and 93 polling stations situated in Dushanbe, four districts of national significance and settlements of the Khatlon region. In addition, monitoring was also carried out at foreign polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation).

The observers also released the Statement of the CIS Observer Mission on the results of elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan. It sums up that the elections were held in accordance with the Constitution and the electoral legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan and generally recognized democratic principles, were held on the competitive basis, in open and transparent manner.IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov and IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy also signed the document.
