IPA CIS Observers Laid Flowers to Memorial in Victory Park in Dushanbe

Representatives of the parliaments of IPA CIS Member Nations and the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, who perform monitoring of the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, laid flowers at the eternal flame in the capital's Victory Park.

The memorial complex was constructed in the year of the 30th anniversary of the Victory, it immortalized the memory of the country’s inhabitants who sacrificed their lives in the fight against fascism.

Almost 290 thousand people went to the front from the Tajik SSR, about 100 thousand of them died.

During the war years, the Republic was one of the evacuation centers. Hospitals on its territory have been used for recovering the wounded Red Army soldiers. Dozens of thousands of civilians from other republics were also evacuated to Tajikistan.
