IPA CIS observers met the leaders of the Milli Majlis and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On 19 October 2015 the IPA CIS observers visited Baku and met the leaders of the Milli Majlis and the Central Election Commission. 

The observers told Safa Mirzoev, the head of the Milli Majlis, about the remote observation during the run-up to the election by the experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democratic and Parliamentary Process. The observers highly appreciated the whole system of the elective bodies and regional structures of the executive authority. The parties also discussed the challenging foreign policy situation and the external pressure on the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On 19 October 2015 the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazakhir Panakhov touched upon the issue of compliance of the legal system in Azerbaijan with the current international standards. He also informed the IPA CIS observers that it will be for the first time in the CIS countries that people with vision disorders will have special facilities for voting.
