Nursultan Nazarbaev votes at the elections of Members of the Majilis of the Parliament on behalf of the Assembly of Kazakhstan Nations

At its XXIII special session, the AKN elected members of the Majilis of the Parliament. The session took place in the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.

According to the law, 9 of 107 seats in the Majilis are reserved for the members of the AKN. They are elected at the Assembly session and represent interests of all ethnic groups living in the country in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The AKN members voted for 26 candidates nominated by the Assembly Council on 26 February. According to the legislation of Kazakhstan, elected candidates must get more than 50% of votes. The final results of the parliamentary voting will be declared not later than on 27 March. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev voted at the election and talked to the observers. He thanked them for their effective efforts and wished them every success in the future.

The Head of State also noted that the entire world had witnessed an open and direct voting in Kazakhstan which had been observed by teams from 60 countries and covered by 150 media.

The governor of Astana Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev and others also took part in the election.
