Pre-election silence in the Kyrgyz Republic

Prior to the election to Jogorku Kenesh on 4 October, the whole Kyrgyz Republic remains silent. This is the period for the voters to make the final decision before the election.

According to the legislation, there is a ban on political campaigning 24 hours prior to the election. 

According to the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jogorku Kenesh consists of 120 deputies elected for 5 years on proportional representation. This is direct equal and universal suffrage by secret ballot.

According to the electoral legislation, citizens residing abroad can vote only at diplomatic missions, consular offices of the Kyrgyz Republic. 36 ballot stations were arranges in 26 countries. IPA CIS international observers are working at ballot stations in Baku, Minsk, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.

The observers noted that the ballot stations had been opened in time. 14 political parties are standing for the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on 4 October.
